For a rectangular plate 8cm long and 6cm wide is subjected to normal force 600kg along 6cm side and 200kg at 8cm side the normal and tangential components of force on the diagonal plane are given as:

Let thetha be the included angle between a diagonal and side of rectangle.

Then tan(thetha)=6/8

=> sin (thetha)=3/5 and

=> cos (thetha)=4/5

Resolving the forces 200kg and 600kg along the diagonal. We get

Normal components to be

-200×(4/5)=-160kg

600×(3/5)=360kg

Tangential components to be

200×(3/5)=120kg

600×(4/5)=480kg

Hence net tangential force =120+480= 600kg and net normal force =-160+360=200kg
