A rectangular plot is 40 m long and 16 m broad. A road of uniform width of 2 m surrounds the plot inside it. Find the cost of paving the road with bricks at 15 rs per square metre and also find the cost of covering the remaining part of the plot with grass at 9 rs per square metre?

Area of rectangle: 40x16 = 640m²
area of inside rectangle: 36x12 = 432m²
area of road: 640-432 = 208m²
therefore, cost of road with bricks = 208x15 = Rs 3120/-
and the cost of remaining part with grass = 432x9 = Rs 3888/-
