Answer:

Given:

Length of the plot = 125 m

Breadth of the plot = 78 m

Area of plot ABCD=Length×Breadth

=125×78

=9750m

2

Length of the plot including the path =(125+3+3)m=131m

Breadth of the plot including the path =(78+3+3)m=84m

Now,

Area of plot PQRS including the path =Length×Breadth

=(131×84)

=11004m

2

Area of path = Area of plot PQRS − Area of plot ABCD

=110049750

=1254m

2

Cost of gravelling =RS75 per m

2

Cost of gravelling the whole path =RS(1254×75)=RS94050

Hence, cost of gravelling the path is RS 94050.

Given :-

A rectangular plot measure 125 m by 78 m.

A gravel path 3m wide all around on the outside.

Cost of gravelling per meter = Rs. 75

To Find :-

The area of the path.

Cost of gravelling.

Analysis :-

First find the area of the rectangular plot by substituting it in the formula of area of rectangle.

Add the width to the length and breadth and find it's area too.

Subtract the area of plot from the area including the path.

Multiply the number we got to the cost per square meter.

Solution :-

We know that,

  • l = Length
  • b = Breadth
  • w = Width
  • a = Area

By the formula,

\underline{\boxed{\sf Area \ of \ rectangle=Length \times Breadth}}

Given that,

Length (l) = 125 m

Breadth (b) = 78 m

Substituting them,

Area = 125 × 78

Area = 9750 m²

Dimensions including the path,

Length (l) = 125 + 3 + 3 =

= 125 + 6 = 131 m

Breadth (b) = 78 + 3 + 3

= 78 + 6 = 84 m

By the formula,

Area of rectangle = Length × Breadth

Substituting their values,

Area = 131 × 84

Area = 11004 m²

Now,

Area of path = Area of rectangle including the path - Area of the plot

By substituting,

Area = 11004 - 9750

Area = 1254 m²

Given that,

Cost of gravelling per meter = Rs. 75

Cost of gravelling = Cost per meter × Area of path

Substituting them,

Cost of gravelling = 1254 × 75

= Rs. 94050

Therefore, the cost of gravelling is Rs. 94050
