The length of one side of the square garden is 6 meter

Solution:

Let the length of side of square garden be "x"

The dimensions of rectangular plot are 7 m and 8 m

Area of rectangular plot = 7 x 8 = 56 square meter

Given that,

The area of the garden is 9/14 of the area of the plot of land

Therefore,

\text{Area of square garden } = \frac{9}{14} \times \text{ area of rectangular plot }\\\\\text{Area of square garden } = \frac{9}{14} \times 56\\\\\text{Area of square garden } = 9 \times 4\\\\\text{Area of square garden } = 36

We know that,

Area\ of\ square = a^2

Therefore,

36 = a^2\\\\a = 6

Thus the length of one side of the square garden is 6 meter
