A rectangular plot of land is 50 m long. The cost of leveling the plot at the rate

of Rs. 8 per metre square is Rs. 8000. Find:

(i) The breadth of the plot.

(ii) The cost of fencing the plot at the rate of Rs. 30 per metre.​

Answer: Breadth= 20m  and Cost= ₹ 1050

Given length= 50m

Area of the plot= Total cost/ cost for 1 meter square= 8000/8

Area of the plot= 8000/8= 1000m^2

i)

Now we know that,

Area= length x breadth

1000= 50 x b

b= 1000 / 50 = 20m

Breadth= 20m

ii)

Cost of fencing=  Perimeter of plot x ₹30

Cost= 2 (20 + 50) x 30

Cost= ₹ 1050
