A rectangular plot of land measures 95m by 72m. Inside thr plot, a path of uniform width of 3.5m is to be constructed all around. The rest if the plot is to be laid with grass. Find the total expenses involved in constructing the path at 80 per m and laying the grass at 40 per m

We have,Length of plot ABCD = 95 m breadth of plot ABCD = 72 m
Area of plot ABCD = length × breadth = 95×72 = 6840 m²
Now,
width of the path = 3.5 m
Now, length of the park EFGH = 95−(3.5+3.5) = 95 − 7 = 88 m
breadth of the park EFGH = 72 − (3.5+3.5) = 72−7 = 65 m
Area of park EFGH = length × breadth = 88×65 = 5720 m²
Area of path = area of ABCD − area of EFGHarea of path = 6840 − 5720 = 1120m²
Cost of constructing 1120 m2 of path =1120×80=Rs 89600
cost of laying grass 5720 m2 area = Rs 228800
