A rectangular pond is 200 feet long 100ft wide and 20 ft deep. 4000 feet³ of water evaporated during the summer. How much will the water level drop?
Volume of cuboidal pond = l × b × h
= 200 ft × 100 ft × 20 ft
Now, 4000 ft³ water evaporated.
So water left in pond
= 400000 ft³ - 4000 ft³
But obviously now height of water level will not be 20 ft as before because water volume have decreased.
396000 ft³ = 200 ft × 100 ft × x
396000/20000 ft = x
Hence, water level decreased = 20 ft - 19.8 ft
Volume of cuboidal pond = l × b × h
= 200 ft × 100 ft × 20 ft
Now, 4000 ft³ water evaporated.
So water left in pond
= 400000 ft³ - 4000 ft³
But obviously now height of water level will not be 20 ft as before because water volume have decreased.
396000 ft³ = 200 ft × 100 ft × x
396000/20000 ft = x
Hence, water level decreased = 20 ft - 19.8 ft
