area of a room = 12×10 =120 m2 , area of abcd=18×16=288m2,area of verandah = 288-120=168m2,area of 1 brick = .25×.12=.0300m2,no. of bricks = 168/.0300=5600

5600 bricks would be required to pave the verandah.

Step-by-step explanation:

Given,

Length of the room = 12 m

Breadth of the room = 10m

so,

Area of the room = l * b

= 12 * 10

= 120 m^2    (i)

To find,

Area of the room + verandah,

= 12 + 6(adding 3m from both sides) * 10 + 6(adding 3 from both sides)

= 18 * 16

= 288 m^2   ....(ii)

Total area for paving,

= (ii) - (i)

= 288 m^2 - 120m^2

= 168m^2    ...(iii)

Total area of a brick = l * b

= 25 * 12

= 300 cm^2 0r 0.03 m^2  ...(iv)

Number of bricks required for paving = (iii) ÷ (iv)

= total area for paving ÷ total area of a brick

= 168/0.03

= 5600 bricks
