A rectangular room 5m 6cm long and 3m 74cm broad is to be paved with square tiles all of the same size

1m = 100cm

=>5m 6cm = 506 cm and 3m 74 cm = 374cm

=>
area of the room = lenght *breadth

                                 = 506*374

                              =  189244cm²

let us find the hcf of 506 and 374

=>factors of 506 =  1,2,11,22,23,46,253,506

=>factors of 374  =  1,2,11,17,22,34,187,374

highest common factor = 22

so largest tile  =  22cm

area if tile = 22*22

 =484cm²

no.of tiles = area of whole room / area of the tile

                = 189244/484

                   = 391 tiles

hope it helps u....
