Given,

The length of the room = 12 m

Width of the room = 4 m

Width of the carpet = 2 m

Rate of carpeting = Rs. 50 per metre

To find,

The total cost of carpeting.

Solution,

We can simply solve this mathematical problem by using the following mathematical process.

Now, to cover the floor with carpet, the following mathematical relationship should be fulfilled.

Area of floor = Area of carpet

Length of floor × Width of floor = Length of carpet × Width of Carpet

12×4 = Length of carpet × 2

48 = Length of carpet × 2

Length of carpet = 48/2

Length of carpet = 24 metres

Now,

1 metre carpeting cost = Rs. 50

24 metres carpeting cost = 50×24 = Rs. 1200

Hence, the costing will be Rs. 1200
