Solution :

--> AREAS TO BE PAINTED -> ( Four Walls and Roof ) - (6m²)

-->
Dimensions of the Room = 10m x 6m x 3m
--> Cost of painting = Rs. 75 per m²

Desired Area = ( Area of four walls ) + ( Area of Roof ) - ( 6m² )
                       = 2( 10 + 6 )( 3 )m² + ( 10 )( 6 )m² - 6m²
                       = ( 96m² ) + ( 60m² ) - ( 6m² ) = ( 150 m² )

Hence, Cost of Painting = Rs. 75 x 150 = Rs. 11250

Hope this helps ^_^

Question:

A rectangular room is length 10 cm,breath 6m and height 3 m .The four walls and the roof have to be painted if the cost of painting is rupees 75 per square metre what will be the total cost? The area of the windows and doors 6 square metre which are not to be painted.

Solution:

Area to be painted= area of four walls +area of roof

= 2h(l+b) + lb

= 2×3(10+6)+10×6

= 6(16)+60

= 96+60

= 156m²

The area of window and doors=6m²

The cost of painting the walls and roof=150×75

Therefore,

The total cost of painting the walls is Rs 11250.
