A rectangular sheet made of aluminum has dimensions 2.2m × 1.76m. Find the volume of the cylinder formed when the aluminum sheet is rolled along the length

Solution :-

The length and the breadth of the rectangular sheet are 2.2 m and 1.76 m respectively.

L = 2.2 m or 220 cm
B = 1.76 m or 176 cm

The sheet is rolled along its length to form a cylinder.

Let the radius of the cylinder be 'r'

Then, Breadth of the rectangular sheet = Height of the cylinder = 176 cm

Length of the rectangular sheet Circumference = 220 cm

Circumference = 2πr

⇒ 220 = 2*22/7*r

⇒ 44r = 220*7

⇒ r = 1540/44

⇒ r = 35 cm

So, the radius of the cylinder is 35 cm

Volume of the cylinder = πr²h

⇒ 22/7*35*35*176

⇒ 4743200/7

⇒ 677600 cu cm

So, volume of the cylinder is 677600 cu cm

Circumference of circle(C) = 2πr

2.2= 2×(22/7)×r

44r = 2.2 ×7

r= (2.2×7)/44= (22×7)/440= 7/20 m = 0.35 m

Radius of Cylinder ( r) = 0.35 m


Volume of the cylinder(V) = πr²h

V= ( 22/7)×0.35×0.35×1.76

V= 22×.05×0.35×1.76

V= 0. 6776 m³

V= 0.6776 × 1000000 cm³

V= 677600 cm³

Hence,the volume of the cylinder is 677600 cm³
