Answer:

2585 cm²

Step-by-step explanation:

Given -

A rectangular sheet of paper dimensions of 88 cm and 28 cm, is rolled along its length and cylinder is formed

To find -

The surface area (T.S.A.) of cylinder

Solution -

Given that length of the rectangle = 88 cm, and breadth = 28 cm.

When a cylinder is formed along its length, the length will be turns into height of cylinder, and breadth turns into the circumference of the base.

As we know that

Total Surface area of cylinder = 2πr(h+r)

To find out the surface area we want height (h) and radius (r).

So we have to find out the radius from circumference.

Circumference = 28 cm

=> 2πr = 28 cm

=> 2×22/7 × r = 28 cm

=> 44/7 × r = 28

=> 44 × r = 28×7

=> 44×r = 196

=> r = 196/44

=> r = 4.45 (approx)

T.S.A (Surface area) = 2πr(h+r)

= 2×22/7×4.45 (88+4.45)

= 44/7 × 4.45 × 92.45

= 18101/7 (approx)

= 2585 cm² (approx)

Hence Surface area of cylinder = 2585 cm².

hope it helps.
