Answer:

30000

Step-by-step explanation:

Pool is in the shape of cuboid .

So, we are supposed to find the lateral surface area of cuboid with one base because tiles are covered on the walls and the base of swimming pool.

So, area of swimming pool needed to be covered by tiles =Lateral surface Area of cuboid +Area of 1 base.

Area of swimming pool needed to be covered by tiles:

=2(lb+bh+hl)+lb

length = l = 60 m

Breadth = b= 40 m

Height = h = 1.5 m

Substitute the values.

=2(60 \cdot 40+40 \cdot 1.5+1.5 \cdot 60)+60 \cdot 40

=7500 m^2

Side of tile = 50 cm = 0.5 m

Area of square tile = Side^2 = 0.5^2 =0.25 m^2

So, number of tiles required = \frac{7500}{0.25}

                                                = 30000

Thus the number of tiles required is 30000.
