GIVEN :-

  • Length of rectangular tank = 5m
  • Breadth of rectangular tank = 4m
  • Depth/height of rectangular tank = 2m
  • Depth of water in rectangular tank = 1.5 m
  • Length of empty tank = 4m
  • Breath of empty tank = 3m

TO FIND :-

  • Depth of water in the empty tank

SOLUTION :-

Let the depth of water in the empty tank be x .

Volume of water in rectangular tank = lbh

                                                                   = 5 × 4 × 1.5

                                                                    = 30 m³

   According to the question,

Volume of water in rectangular tank = Volume of water in empty tank

       \longrightarrow\qaud \sf 30 = 4\times 3 \times d \\\\\longrightarrow\qaud d = \dfrac{\not{30}^{10}}{4\times \not{3}}\\\\\longrightarrow\qaud d = \dfrac{10}{4}\\\\\longrightarrow\qaud \bf d = 2.5

Depth of water in the second tank ( empty tank ) = 2.5 m
