Answer:

Total water in the rectangular tank =  10.8 liters

Step-by-step explanation:

Flow of water from the tank into the rectangular tank = 1.8 liters per minute

Time for which the water is made flowed into the rectangular tank = 6 minutes

Total water in the tank = Rate of water flow × Time of water flow

Total water in the rectangular tank =  1.8 × 6

Hence, Total water in the rectangular tank =  10.8 liters

The rectangular tank is filled with water to 1/5 of its height.

therefore the tank is filled with water = 48cm x 35cm x (1/5 x 40) cm = 13440 cu. cm = 13.44 L.

Given,

water from a tap flows into the tank at 1.8 L per minute.

therefore after 6 mins = 1.8 L x 6 = 10.8 L.

therefore total water is in the tank after 6 mins = 10.8 L + 13.44 L = 24.24 L.
