A rectangular tile has dimension 40 cm x 20 cm. If the length and breadth of the tile is increased
by 5%, what is the percentage increase in the area of the tile?​

Answer:

Given, length = 40 cm and breadth = 20 cm

Area = 40 * 20 = 800 cm sq

According to question, new length = 40 * 1.05 = 42 cm

new breadth = 20 * 1.05 = 21 cm

New area = 42 * 21  = 882 cm sq

% increase in area = [(New area - Old area) / Old Area] *  100

                               = [(882 - 800)/ 800 ] * 100

                               = 10.25 %
