The distance travelled is 70 m and the magnitude of displacement is 50 m.

According to the question,

  • Length of the rectangular track = 40 meter;
  • Breadth of the rectangular track = 30 meter;

Total distance travelled by the man = Length + Breadth

▶Distance = 40 + 30

Distance = 70 meter

Now,

Displacement by man , by using pythagorous theorem .

↗(Displacement)² = length² + breadth²

↗(D)² = 40² + 30²

↗(D)² = 1600 + 900

↗(D)² = 2500

↗(D) = √2500

D = 50 meter

Distance covered by the man = 70 m,

Displacement by the man = 50 m
