A rectangular track is 40m long and30m broad.A man starts walking from corner of the track and reaches the opposite corner. find the distance travelled and the magnitudeof displacement.

Let's see the given data:

Rect. Track Length = 40 m
Rect. Track Breadth = 30 m

Then,  Distance = Length + Breadth
                          = 40+30 = 70 m  ← Ans

We use Pythagoras theorem:

(Displacement)² = (40)² + (30)²
(Displacement)² = 1600 + 900
(Displacement)² = 2500
Displacement = √2500
Displacement = 50 meter  ← Ans
