Given:

Edge of cube = 5cm

Length of the vessel = 10cm

Breadth of the vessel = 8cm

To find:

The rise in water level

Solution

The volume of the cube

= 5×5×5

= 125 cm³

Now, Volume of cube = Volume of water displaced

Again, the volume of the vessel

= l×b×h  [where h is the height of the water]

= 8×10×h

Since it is given that the volume of water in the vessel is sufficient to submerge the cube, we can conclude

Amount of water present = volume of the cube

=> 80h = 125

=> h = 1.56cm (approximately)

Answer

The rise in water level is = 1.56cm
