Question:-

A rectangular wire of length 40cm and breadth 20cm is bent in the shape of a square. The side of the square is?

Answer:-

  • The side of square is 30 cm.

To find:-

  • Side of square

Solution:-

  • Length of Rectangle (l) = 40 cm
  • Breadth of rectangle (b) = 20 cm

As we know,

 \mathfrak{ \green{ \huge{perimeter = 2(l + b)}}}

According to question,

 \large{ \tt :  \implies \:  \:  \:  \: perimeter = 2(40 + 20)}

 \large{ \tt :  \implies \:  \:  \:  \: perimeter  = 2 \times 60}

 \large{ \tt :  \implies \:  \:  \:  \: perimeter = 120 \: cm}

  • The perimeter of rectangle is 120 cm.
  • The same rectangular wire is bent in the shape of square

Thus,

  • Perimeter of rectangle = Perimeter of square
  • Perimeter of square = 120 cm
  • Side of square = x

As we know,

 \mathfrak{ \purple{ \huge{ perimeter = 4 \times side}}}

According to question,  \large{ \tt :  \implies \:  \:  \:  \: 4 \times x = 120}

 \large{ \tt :  \implies \:  \:  \:  \: x =  \frac{120}{4} } \\

 \large{ \tt :  \implies \:  \:  \:  \: x = 30}

Hence,

  • The side of square is 30 cm.
