Solution :

Pressure = Force / Area

Force = Mass × g

g = 9.8 N

Force = 9.8 × 5

Force = 49 N

Pressure on the table when wooden block is kept with surface measuring 50 cm × 25 cm,

Here Force = 49 N

area = (50/100) metre × (25/100)metre

Pressure = Force/Area

49 ÷ {(50/100)×(25/100)}

(49 × 100 × 1000) / 50 × 25

= 392 N/m^2

Pressure on the table top when wooden block is kept with measuring 10 cm × 50 cm,

Here Force = 49 N

Area = (10/100)metre × (50/100)metre

Pressure = Force/Area

Pressure = 49 ÷ {(10/100) ×(50/100)}

Pressure = (49 × 100 × 100) / (10 × 50)

Pressure = 980 N/m^2
