Answer:

Area of face A is 25 cm² , area of the face B is 40 cm² , face B has greater area. Pressure exerted by face A is 0.2 Pascal and pressure exerted by the face B is 0.125 Pascal . Face A exerts more pressure.

Explanation:

According to the question ,

Face A is a square plane having 5 cm of sides .

Then , the area of face A is , 5² = 25 cm²

According to the question ,

Face B is a rectangular surface having sides of 5 cm and 8 cm .

then , the area of face B is  ( 5 × 8 ) = 40 cm²

Clearly , face B has the higher area.

The force exerted by the rectangular block is 5 N .

∴ The pressure exerted by the face A is ( 5/25 ) = 0.2 Pascal

∴ The pressure exerted by the face B is ( 5/40) = 0.125 Pascal

Clearly , face A exerts more pressure.
