Answer:

The length=40m

width=30m

Let the diagonal=x

clearly the diagonal acts as a hypotenuse of triangle whose base is 40m and height is 30m

applying PGT

 {x}^{2}  =  {30}^{2}  +  {40}^{2}

 {x}^{2}  = 900 + 1600

 {x}^{2}  = 2500

x =  \sqrt{2500}

x = 50

Therefore diagonal =50m

Given

  • In a rectangular field
  • Length = 40 m
  • Breadth = 30 m

To find

  • Length of diagonal

Solution

  • ΔACD is right angled triangle at C

By Pythagoras theorem :-

  • AD² = AC² + DC²
  • AD² = 30² + 40²
  • AD² = 900 + 1600
  • AD² = 2500
  • AD = √2500
  • AD = 50

∴ The length of AD = 50 m
