Step-by-step explanation:

Given: red brick = 9 kg and gray brick = 8 kg . Total number of brick = 35 and the weight is 298 kg

Let x = red brick and y = gray brick

x + y = 35 bricks or x = 35 - y

9x + 8y = 298 kg

9(35 - y) + 8y = 298

315 - 9y + 8y = 298

-y = -17

y = 17

35 - 17 = 18

Number of red bricks = 18 and number of gray bricks = 17
