Given : Regular hexagon shaped garden with each side 5m is shown in the figure. BF = 8m  and AD = 11m.

To Find  : the area

cost of developing the garden at the rate of ₹55  per m2

Solution:

AB = BC = CD = DE = EF = AF = 5 cm

BF = 8  m  => CE = 8  m

Draw AM ⊥  BF

AM =  (11 - 5)/2  = 3  m

Area of ΔABF = ΔCDE = (1/2)  * 8 *  3  = 12   m²

Area of rectangle BCFE = 5 x 8  = 40 m²

Total area = 12 + 12 + 40 = 64 m²

Area = 64 m²

Rate = 55 rs /m²

Cost = 64 x 55

= 3520 Rs
