Physics, asked by UnknownDude, 1 year ago

A relatively simple and logical question.

Three identical balls are thrown from the top of a tower with equal velocities.

The first ball is thrown vertically.

The second ball is thrown straight downwards.

The third ball is thrown horizontally.

Their velocities when they hit the ground are v1, v2, v3.

Which option is correct?

(a) v1=v2=v3
(b) v1=v2>v3
(c) v1=v2<v3
(d) None of the above

UnknownDude: Nope. Never

Heya...

Here is your answer...

Answer: v 1 = v 2 = v 3 . The first and third balls speed up after they are thrown, while the second ball initially slows down but then speeds up after reaching its peak. The paths of all three balls are parabolas, and the balls take different times to reach the ground because they have different initial velocities. However, all three balls have the same speed at the moment they hit the ground because all start with the same kinetic energy and the ball-Earth system undergoes the same change in gravitational potential energy in all three cases.

Thanks...!!!
