Given : A relief package is dropped from an airplane traveling horizontally with a speed of 150 m/s.

the airplane is 10.0 km above the ground,

To Find : how far (in meters) from the recipient must the relief package be released to make a direct receipt

Explanation:

Horizonal speed =  150 m/s

Vertical speed U =  0 m/s   as dropped

Vertical Height   S  = 10 km = 10000 m

a = g  = 9.8 m/s²

t = ?   time to reach ground

S = ut + (1/2) at²

=> 10000  =0  +  (1/2) * 9.8  t²

=> t² = 10000/4.9

=> t  = (100/7)√10

Horizontal Distance =  150 x (100/7)√10  = 6,776.3  m

 6,776.3  m  from the recipient must the relief package be released to make a direct receipt
