Accident on Nagarajpet expressway

I was driving towards Hyderabad and had just entered the Nagarajpet expressway. The car ahead of me was a beige brown, Suzuki Baleno and it seemed to me that it was weaving in and out of the lanes, prompting other vehicles to honk their horns.

Suddenly, without any warning it went straight for the left-side barrier, crashing through it and the next thing I realised, it was hanging half-way outside, overlooking 40 metres drop! A few other cars quickly pulled to the side and I immediately dialled 103 for the Police and 108 for the ambulance, explaining the situation. We dared not do anything, in case the car fell over! The driver was slumped over the steering wheel.

The police came quickly, accompanied by a small crane, which deftly pulled the car back on to the road. The driver who was unconscious was quickly taken in the ambulance. It was later learnt that the driver had a seizure, thereby losing control over the vehicle.

                                      An Accident I Witnessed

Today (January 23, 2019) I saw a ghastly accident that petrified me to the core! I was on my way to Delhi to receive my sister at the airport. It had occurred near Karnal. Two cars had collided head on at very fast speed. The eye-witnesses said both the cars were trying to overtake at the same time. The speed was so high that neither driver could understand what to do and the collision took place. The passengers sitting on the front seats were crushed to death on the spot. The ambulances and the paramedics had reached the spot. My blood curdled to see the bodies steeped in blood. Why don’t people just travel at reasonable speed, when over speeding can be so dangerous? As I was in the bus, I had to move on.
