GUWAHATI: Heavy foot-fall of book lovers, writers and publishers from all across the nation is witnessed at the ongoing 20th edition of Northeast Book Fair organised at the Assam Engineering Institute Playground at Chandmari ,Guwahati.
The 12 days fair is organised by the All Assam Publishers and Booksellers Association would conclude on November 20. More than 150 publishers and booksellers from India and Bangladesh are participating in the fair and are displaying books on various and diverse subjects. The fair was inaugurated by Indian writer, Yeshe Dorjee Thongchi in the presence of All Assam Students Union student advisor, Samujjal Bhattacharjee.
We have been organising the book fair for the past 19 years and this year there are 278 stalls, where books on different genres and subjects are exhibited and 150 publishers and booksellers have joined her. Also two Hindi bookstalls and three book stalls from Bangladesh have also been set up. Besides the northeast , Ludhiana, Punjab, and Mumbai are also taking part.," said Ajay Kumar Barnman President of All Assam Publishers and Booksellers Association.
Despite the growing demand for e-books the popularity of printed books doesn't seems to have gone down as book lovers throng to the fair searching for their favorites.
