A residential colony has a population of 5400 and 60 litres of water is required per person per day. For the effective utilization of rain water, a group of people decided to do Water Harvesting. They constructed a water reservoir measuring 48 m x 27 m x 2.5 m to collect the rain water. Assume that the average rainfall per day is 25cm.

(i)How much water is required by the colony per day?
(ii)In how many days will the resevoir get full assuming it rain everyday.

Water need per day on the colony = 5400 x 60 liters = 324000 liters

Volume of the reservoir = (49 x 27 x 25)m^3 = 33075m^3

Now, 1m^3 = 1000 liters.

33075m^3 = 33075000 liters

Number Of Days The Water will last in the village

= \frac{33075000}{324000}

324000

33075000

= 102.83 days

So the water will remain for around 102 days and 20 hours.
