Given,

  • Two resistors R1 = R2 = 2.5 Ω are connected in series.
  • Potential difference (v) = 1 v

To Find,

  • Heat produced in the coil in 5 minute.

According to question,

Two resistors R1 = R2 = 2.5 Ω are connected in series.

⇒ Rs = R1 + R2

⇒ Rs = 2.5 + 2.5

Rs = 5 Ω

According to the ohms law,

⇒ V = IR

⇒ 1 = I × 5

⇒ I = 1/5

I = 0.2 A

According to the joules law,

⇒ H = I²Rt

⇒ H = (0.2)² × 5 × 5

⇒ H = 0.04 × 25

H = 1 J

Therefore,

The heat produced in the coil in 5 minutes is 1 J.
