Answer:

x = 12 ohm

Explanation:

Given,

R1 = 8 ohm ; R2 = x ohm ; Req = 4.8 ohm

Resistance of eq.resistance in parallel combination:

r = \frac{r1r2}{r1 + r2}

4.8 = 8x/(8+x)

0.6 = x/(8+x)

4.8 + 0.6x = x

4.8 = 0.4x

x = 12 ohm

Given that two resistance R1 and R2 are connected in parallel.

➡➡➡➡➡➡➡➡➡➡➡➡➡➡➡➡➡➡➡➡➡➡

So resultant resistant = 1/ R= 1/R1+1/R2

Here

R=4.8 ohms

R1= 8ohms

R2= X ohms

➡➡➡➡➡➡➡➡➡➡➡➡➡➡➡➡➡➡➡

1/4.8 =1/8+1/X

10/48 = 8+x/8x

10(8x) =(8+x)48

➡➡➡➡➡➡➡➡➡➡➡➡➡➡➡➡

80x=8x48 +48x

80x-48x=384

32x=384

x=384/32

x=12 ohms

∴ The value of X is 12ohms
