A resultant force of 20N gives a body of mass m an acceleration of 8m/s^2 and a body of mass m' acceleration of 24m/s^2. What acceleration will this force cause the two masses to acquire if fastened together ​

so, 20 =  × 1 m/s²

= 20kg......(1)

again, 20N acts on a body of mass M and acceleration 24m/s²

so, 20 = M × 24

M = 20/24 = 5/6 Kg

now, when two masses combine together

F = (M1 + M) a'

20 = (20 + 5/6) × a'

20 = (125)/6 × a'

4 = 25/6 × a'

a' = 24/25 m/s²
