a retailer buys an article at a discount of 15% on the printed price from a wholesaler. he marks of the price by 10%. due to competition in the market he allows a discount of 5% to a buyer. if the buyer pays rupees 451. 44 for the article inclusive of Sales Tax under VAT at 8% find the printed price of the article and the profit percent of the retailer

Given: SP = 451. 44

CP before VAT =  \frac{451.44 \times 100}{108}=418

CP is 418 after 5 % discount on the price

CP =  \frac{418 \times 100}{95}=440

CP is 440 after assigning 10% markup price on printed price

CP =  \frac{440 \times 100}{110}=400

Printed price = 400

15% discount was given on printed price

CP =  \frac{400 \times 85}{100}=340

CP of retailer = 340

Profit % =  \frac{418-340}{340} \times 100=\bold{23 \%}
