Let Discount given be d %
C.P. of shirt=200
S.P. of shirt=300
Profit % earned on C.P. = 35%
i.e., (200 x 35) / 100
=70
therefore
300 - ((300 x d)/100) = 200 + 70
300-((300d)/100)=270
(30000-300d)/100=270
30000-300d=270 x 100
30000-300d=27000
d=(30000-27000)/300
d=3000/300
d=10
therefore discount given = 10%
CROSS CHECK
substitute d=10 in
300 - ((300 x d)/100) = 200 + 70
300-((300x10)/100)=270
300-30=270
