Solution :-

Let us assume that, MP of the book is Rs. 100x .

So,

→ MP = Rs. 100x

→ Discount = 10%

→ SP = (100x * 90)/100 = Rs. 90x

now,

→ SP = Rs. 90x

→ Gain = 8%

→ CP = (90x * 100) / 108

→ CP = Rs. (250x/3)

Again,

→ MP = Rs. 100x

→ Discount = 19%

→ SP = (100x * 81)/100 = Rs. 81x

then,

→ Loss = CP - SP = (250x/3) - 81x = Rs.(7x/3)

therefore,

→ Loss % = (Loss in Rs. * 100)/CP

→ Loss % = (7x/3) * 100) / (250x/3)

→ Loss % = (7x * 100)/250x

→ Loss % = 2.8 % (Ans.)

Hence, the required percentage of loss is 2.8 .
