Length of the ribbon
= 10cm 5mm
= 100mm +5mm
= 105 mm
Ratio = 1:4
let common ratio be x, then;
1x+4x = 105
5x = 105
x = 21
Hence the length of each part will be ;
1x = 1×21 = 21mm = 2cm 1mm
4x = 4×21 = 84mm = 8cm 4mm
= 10cm 5mm
= 100mm +5mm
= 105 mm
Ratio = 1:4
let common ratio be x, then;
1x+4x = 105
5x = 105
x = 21
Hence the length of each part will be ;
1x = 1×21 = 21mm = 2cm 1mm
4x = 4×21 = 84mm = 8cm 4mm

Answer:
Length of ribbon= 10cm 5mm
= 10cm + 5/10cm
= 10cm + 0.5cm
= 10.5cm
Sum of ratio= 1+4
= 5
First part= 1/5 of 10.5
= 1/5×10.5
= 2.1
Second part= 4/5×10.5 = 2.1
= 4×2.1
= 8.4cm
