A right-angled triangle abc, made from a metallic wire, moves at a uniform speed v in its plane as shown in figure. A uniform magnetic field B exists in the perpendicular direction. Find the emf induced (a) in the loop abc, (b) in the segment bc, (c) in the segment ac and (d) in the segment ab.

Electromotive Force is Product of Field, Length and Velocity

Explanation:

(a) The induced emf in loop abc is 0, since no change in the magnetic flux passing through.

(b) The emf induced-

e = (\vec{v}\vec{B}).\vec{l}

Emf induced for bc part, e = Bvl (Having positive charge at point C)

(c) No Induced EMF in part bc, because velocity is parallel with the length.

(d) The emf induced (ab) can be made by using:

e = B.v. (Effective length of ab)

Similarly, Effective length of ab is through the direction perpendicular with velocity.

Emf induced, e = B.v.(bc)
