Pythagoras Law states that

the square of the hypotenuse is equal to the sum of the squares of the other two sides.

Hypotenuse² = first side² + second side²

Hypotenuse = 13

Hypotenuse² = 13² = 169 cm

13²=12² + x²

169 = 144 + x²

169 - 144 = x²

25 = x²

√25 = 5 cm = x

5 cm
