A right circular cone of diameter K cm and height 12 cm, rests on the base of a right circular cylinder of radius K cm(Their base lie in the same plane). The cylinder is filled with water to a height of 12 cm. If the cone is removed from the figure ,then find the fall in the level of water.

The fall in the level of water is 1 cm.

Volume of cylinder=vol.of water +vol.of cone

pi*k^2*12=vol. of water +1/3 *pi*k^2/4*12

Then find the vol. of water.

vol. of water=pi*k^2*11

Thus reduction in water level is 1 cm.
