Given :- A right circular cone with radius equal to 5 cm and height 12 cm is given. The total surface area of the cone is ?

Solution :-

we know that,

  • slant height of cone is = √[(radius)² + (height)²]
  • CSA of cone = π * radius * slant height.
  • Area of Base = π * (radius)²
  • TSA of cone = CSA + Area of Base.

given that,

  • radius = 5cm.
  • Height = 12cm.

So,

→ slant height of cone = √[5² + 12²] = √(25 + 144) = √(169) = 13 cm.

Than,

→ CSA of cone = π * radius * slant height .

→ CSA = 3.14 * 5 * 13

→ CSA = 3.14 * 65

→ CSA = 204.1 cm².

and,

→ Area of Base = π * (radius)²

→ Area of Base = 3.14 * (5)²

→ Area of Base = 3.14 * 25

→ Area of Base = 78.5 .

Therefore,

TSA of cone = CSA + Area of Base .

→ TSA of cone = 204.1 + 78.5

→ TSA of cone = 282.6 .

Hence, Total surface area of cone is 282.6 m².
