Given:

  • Height of pyramid = 15cm
  • Side of square = 16cm

To Find:

  • Total surface area of right pyramid.

Solution:

   Total surface area of right pyramid is given by

        T.S.A = Area of base + \frac{1}{2} × Slant height × Perimeter of base

     Base of the pyramid is square

So,

         Area of square = ( side)^2

                                   = (16)^2

                                   = 256 cm^2

Perimeter of square = 4 \times side

                                   = 4 \times 16

                                   = 64cm

Slant height   = \sqrt{(Height)^2 + (\frac{Side }{2})^2 }

                        = \sqrt{(15)^2 + (\frac{16 }{2})^2 }

                       = \sqrt{225 + 64}

                       = 17cm

 Total surface area of right pyramid = 256 + \frac{1}{2} \times 64 \times 17

                                                             =256 + 32 \times 17\\=256 + 544\\= 800cm^2

Thus,   Total surface area of right pyramid = 800cm^2
