A right triangle ABC with sides 15cm, 12cm, 9cm is revolved about the side 12cm. find the volume of the solid so obtained.

It is given that :

  • The triangle ABC is Right angled triangle.
  • The sides of that triangle are 9cm ,12cm and 15cm.
  • That triangle is revolved about the side 12 cm.

We Have to find the volume of the solid obtained :

To find it's volume :

  • When a right triangle is revolved about the side having 12cm, we obtain a right circular cone with radius 9cm and height 12cm
  • Therefore,
  • Volume obtained of right circular cone will be equal to (1/3) × π × (r)² × h

  • => Volume obtained of right circular cone = (1/3) × π × (r)² × h
  • => (1/3) × (22/7) × (9)² × 12
  • => (1/3) × (22/7) × 9 × 9 × 12
  • => 1018.28 cm²

The volume of the solid thus obtained will be 1018.28 cm².
