A right triangle has a hypotenuse equal to 10 and an altitude to the hypotenuse equal to 6. find the area of the triangle

hypoteneuse square = base square + altitude square

100 = base square + 36
100-36 = base square
64 = base square
base = 8

area = 1/2 × base × height
= 48/2
= 24
