A right triangle has a hypotenuse equal to 10 units and an altitude of 6 units. What is the are of triangle? (Answer is not 30 units)

area of the triangle =1/2×base×height

we are give altitude (height) and hypotenuse

we need to find base

using Pythagoras theorem

base =root (100-36)

base=root (64)

base=8

now area =1/2×base×height

AREA=1/2×6×8

AREA=3×8

AREA=24 sq units
