Answer:

55.5 yd²

Step-by-step explanation:

A_{rectangle} = l × w = 9 * 7 = 63 yd²

A_{triangle} = \frac{b*h}{2}

b = 7 - 4 = 3 yd

h = 9 - 4 = 5 yd

A_{triangle} = 3 × 5 ÷ 2 = 7.5 yd²

The area of the shaded region is

63 - 7.5 = 55.5 yd²

Given : A right triangle is removed from a rectangle to create the shaded region

To Find : the area of the shaded region

Solution:

Rectangle size  9 yard x 7 yard

Area of Rectangle = 9 x 7  = 63 yard²

Triangle Size   7 - 4 = 3 Yards  and 9 - 4 = 5 Yards

Area of Triangle = (1/2) 3 * 5  = 7.5 yard²
