Solution :-

Let us assume that, original price of item is Rs.100x / kg .

So,

→ Initial total item he bought for Rs.240 = (240/100x) = (12/5x) kg

now,

→ New price of item = 125% of 100x = (125 * 100x)/100 = Rs. 125x

→ New total item he bought for Rs.240 = (240/125x) = Rs. (48/25x) kg

A/q,

→ (12/5x) - (48/25x) = 1.5 kg

→ (60 - 48)/25x = 1.5 kg

→ 12 = 25x * 1.5

→ 25x = 8

→ x = (8/25)

therefore,

→ Original price of item = 100x = 100 * (8/25) = Rs. 32 / kg .

hence,

→ Increased price of item = 125x = 125 * (8/25) = Rs. 40 / kg .
