40

Area of cross section of the river =

3 ×40 = 120 square m

Now,

Volume of water flowing through this cross section in every minute

V = Area × rate of flow

= 120×2 km/hr

= 120×(2000/60) meter/min

= 2 ×2000

V= 4000 cubic m

Since 1 m^3 = 1000 litres

So

4000 m^3 = 4000 ×1000

Water flow in 1 minute = 4000000 litres
