Correct question :

A river 3m deep and 40 m wide is flowing at the rate of 2 km per hour how much water will fall into the sea in a minutes.

1) 4000 m³

2) 2000 m³

3) 5000 m³

4) 20000 m³

Given :

  • A river 3m deep and 40 m wide is flowing at the rate of 2 km per hour

To find :

  • how much water will fall into the sea in a minutes.

Solution :

rate of flowing water = 2 km/hour

Length of water column in 1 hour = 2 km = 200 m

Given depth of river = 3 m

and width of the river = 40 m

Volume of water falling into the sea in 1 hour

=> I x b x h

=> 2000 x 40 x 3

=> 240000 m³

Volume of water falling into the sea in 1 minute

=> 240000/60

=> 4000 m³

option 1 is correct option
